What was the initial situation when the check engine light went on? Did the engine seem to mis-fire and become sluggish? I just had that problem at 69900 miles (about 1000 miles after a new alternator, hopefully just a coincidence). After pulling over and shutting the engine down for 30 minutes, I restarted it and the problem was gone. To be safe, I had it towed to the shop, and they told me that there was no "event code" registered. They were, however, able to duplicate the symptoms when giving it a test drive. They're guessing it is either the DI Cassette or a crank sensor, but recommended replacement of the crank sensor as the less expensive of the two possibilities -- and said that it is the crank sensor about 75% of the time when the engine has these symptoms. Make sense?
