clutch problem

I have a year 2000, 9-5 wagon, manual transmission, 87,000 miles. I was having trouble shifting the car into gear. Then the car stalled while I was coming to a stop. The car started up after the stall but shortly after that the car started chugging and bucking when trying to drive. I stopped and shut down the engine. I had the car shifter in first gear and when I stepped all the way down on the clutch and tried to start up again, when I turned the key the car wanted to lurch forward (even with my foot stepped all the way down on the clutch pedal) and before the engine actually started up. I could start the engine just fine if the car was in neutral, but when I try to shift into reverse, something nasty in the gear box would grind very badly, and I am not able to get it into gear. Any suggestions as to what might be the issue?
Thanks very much for you help!!
