Hi. I'm a first time user on this board and wondered if someone can help me out.

I have a strange problem with my 2000 9-5 2.0t that started out as an SID Low Coolant message. I topped it up, but over the next few days it started to get worse, and I also got clouds of whiteish smoke from the exhaust which lasted until the engine warmed up. I thought it must be a head gasket and took it in to my local SAAB dealer. They confirmed it was a head gasket, did the repair and I picked it up. Only problem was that after 50 miles I got the low Coolant message again, and clouds of smoke. Took it back in and they looked at it, but said that it was running fine and it was a mystery to them. Suggested it might have been an airlock and some residual fluid in the exhaust, and that I run it for a couple more days. The only other thing he could think of was the turbo, but says he's not seen one go like this before (with coolant leakage rather than oil).

Anyway, it seems to run fine when warmed up at motorway speeds, but still billows out smoke first thing for several minutes (not just a few seconds). On the plus side, I have not yet received the low coolant message since they topped it up for the second time, and I have put on a further 80 miles. But I think the smoke has a blue tinge to it at start-up as well - which seems to suggest turbo or piston rings?

It seems strange to me that all of these things could be happening at the same time - its probably more likely that all my symptoms are related to the same cause in my opinion. Did they advise me badly regarding the head gasket? I've already had a hefty bill for that and seem to be heading for an even bigger one.

Any ideas? I have also been reading reports of the oil sludge problems on this and other boards this week with growing alarm - but my dealer has not even mentioned that as a possible problem.
