"He usually tosses in new tires with every purchase."

Just check to see what tires you get. When I bought my 9-5 SE V6 there, it came with Continential ContiTouringContact tires, but the (less expensive) H-rated ones. The salesman insisted that the SE did not require V-rated tires. It took some effort, and a talk with Mr. Roberti, to get them to acknowledge what the owner's manual and the door sill plate says: The car requires V-rated tires. Mr. Roberti claimed these (obviously brand new) tires must have been put on by the auto auction folks. To his credit, he did finally replace the tires -- not with V-rated ContiTouringContacts, but the more expensive V-rated ContiExtremeContacts.

My experience is that Roberti isn't as bad a dealership as some, but they're not a paragon of virtue. Go in knowing what to look for -- are the manuals present? Two keys? Are all the little bits that are supposed to come with the car present -- the tools in the trunk (screwdriver, second bit, tire wrench, towing eyebolt), warning triangle, cargo area hardcover for wagons, and so forth? I had to ask for a few of these things with my CPO car.

In terms of service... again, they're better than some (Brownell) and worse than some (Dorschel in Rochester NY). The work gets done, but is sometimes slapdash -- parts left on top of the car, floor mats not protected from greasy boots, radio pried out with a screwdriver marring the plastic. However, they do understand things like the need to replace the timing belt tensioner on the V6 at the 60K service. (Brownell didn't understand that.)

If you're fairly knowledgeable about the 9-5, you can probably get a decent deal from Roberti. If you walk in not knowing what's what... well, like many car dealers, you might find they take advantage of you.
