Just got done doing this. Based on research on this board, it seems that the triangle currently offered by SAAB in the SAAB Catalog is a smaller version that doesn't fit the clips, and is intended to be simply velcro'd to the floor of the trunk space. So I went to a local SAAB/Volvo dismantler and had them grab one out of the trunk of a MY 2000 vehicle. Then I called my dealer and ordered a pair of the retaining clips (part #460-6984). They cost more than the triangle!

Here's how I installed it:

1.) There is both a plug-type clip and a hook on the back of the retaining clips. In the trunk lid, you can see where the plug would fit as there are now generic plugs in place to help hold up the liner. You will have to cut slots in the liner for the hooks.

2.) Remove the liner completely. For the plugs around the perimeter, simply push in the center button to the next detent and the plugs will fall out. Be careful to not break any of the feet. For the two plugs in the space where the triangle will fit, just pry them out with a screwdriver. If they break, no big deal as they will not be reused.

3.) Once off, you will see the slots in the sheetmetal of the trunk lid for the hooks on the back of the retaining straps. Measure and cut matching slots in the liner.

4.) Replace the liner except for the two plugs in the triangle space.

5.) Slip the hooks on the backs of the retaining clips into their slots, lever down, and push the round plugs into place. Insert the triangle kit, lock the clips, and you're done!

For those who are wondering why I did this, call me anal. We had this feature in our 2000 Aero, and when we got the `02, it was missing, though the formed space was still there in the trunk lid (GMs decontenting as the model got older). Well, nature abhors a vacuum, right? (Or I'm just anal and can't stand an empty space, kinda like all those blank switches in the dash...errrggghhh).

Anyway, hope someone finds this useful.

Thanks,

Derek
