Ian, your comments are well made. But, my comment was in regard to the last sentence in the article. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that on this Board many times we are "preaching to the choir". The rest of the automotive world is seeing Saab in a much different light, and GM and Saab's challenge is to change that. What is the last time any of the major automotive rags did a long term test on a Saab?

That said, I'm a prior Saab owner (two 9000's and a 9-5) who is interested in "returning to church" (sorry about the religous metaphors!).

To carry your thought process further, the 2006 9-5 Sport Combi appears to be a heck of deal when compared to what I would consider it's natural competition-the Volvo V70, the Audi A6, the BMW 530, and the MB 350. The sedan has a tougher road to hoe when you throw in the Acura TL, and the Infiniti M35.

I look forward to my test drive later this month, as the ONLY way you can appreciate a Saab, is to drive it!
