Heater Gremlin returns...

Ok guys - from initial start (including a cold crank in the morning) the heater/defrost fan speed is adjustable and works fine. After about 3-5 minutes of driving, the fan stops abruptly. This happens 97% of the time, and it happens if I have the ACC set to auto or manual fan speed. After some time, usually about 15 minutes or so, the fan comes back on abruptly. The time to return to normal functionality varies, and has no correlation to engine temp that I can tell, as the temp gauge can be at 9 0'clock and it still has this behavior. Often the heater fan will cycle thru this, shutting off and coming on abruptly, although not always. FWIW the auto/off button diagnostic produces no error either. This is my third SAAB, and I replaced the heater blower motor on my previous 9000 and 9-5, and I just had the dealer replace this one as well, to no avail. My next thought was that it was the speed controller itself, but I haven't had the time to take it back in. The dealer is stumped anyway, as it's not always something they can reproduce in the shop immediately. Any ideas gurus? Cheers.
