About 6.5 yrs ago, I retired from teaching and co-directing the departmental internship program at a small, lib arts college in S Mich (starts w/ A, is just off exit 121 on I-94) and can only echo w/ enthusiasm what Roger is urging you to do. We began our program in 1975 and most of the 30 +/- students/yr who took part since then were offered jobs at the company/agency where they had been placed. (Note: the college where I taught is known for its fine record in placing students into professional/graduate schools; courses w/ a vocational tilt to them were viewed as suspect.) Yes, by all means, do an internship. Among other benefits, you'll find out how hard people work in the "real world." Take, and become proficient at, a foreign language while you're at it. Work on your writing/speaking skills. Don't wear an earring to your interview. Wait until you're my age to demonstrate your independence. Last, work on your "soft skills," e.g., getting up in the morning when you're supposed to. Do well. DKH
