We have a 2002 Linear. First, I have to say, this is the best car I have ever had & we love it--but it's not the most trouble free car we have had.

SID replaced under warranty.

Battery failed at 2 years, 3 months since we bought the car, but almost 3 years since manufacture. Short batt. life may be related to sitting on dealer lot.

Rt. side mirror rotation downward for backing up has been fixed 2 or 3 times under warranty, may be going bad again. If so, now that it is out of warranty we may not fix it.

Some mysterious valve in the intake system broke (yes, broke open) at 10K, coming home from dealer service & grocery shopping. Car would not run due to excessive vaccuum leak. Probably could have taped over it to get it to run, but the tow truck arrived before I got to where my wife was stranded with frozen food in the trunk on a hot day.

We have 57K on the car and those are all the problems I can remember. The car is fast, comfortable, handles nicely and we love it. Everybody who rides with us is impressed. We live in a rural area, so we do little stop & go driving, but lots of country roads, 15 mi. to the first stop sign in one direction & we get about 25 mpg. Traveling on freeway, we get 32+.

Looked at Volvo S60--too cramped & poor rear visibility.

Camry & Accord: To get side airbags at that time, the cost of these was almost the same as the Saab. Both were noisier than the Saab, didn't feel as nice. Accord seats were not comfortable for me. Don't remember the other strikes against these.

And did I say we love the Saab?
