Hi, Just wanted to say that the info on this board has has been very helpful regarding the Code 8. I got all the info I needed (or so I thought) and the part (Thanks SaabSite).
I did the dismantle yesterday. Note that this is a tough fit for one who is 6'2" 230. :-) What I found was no broken shaft. At this point I am thinking it is a slam dunk. The little white (old-style) stopper arm was broken at the midpoint of the outside arc (if you drew a line along the arm through the mounting hole where it crossed the outside arc). I think this allowed the blend door shaft to slip or rotate past the expected stop points.
Anyhow, I put the stopper arm (the new one little a little beefier). Now, onto my problem. I cannot get the motor drive shaft to fit onto the linkage. Looking at Buck's instructions, there is a picture showing the inside of the linkage. If you have the instructions, it is the fifth picture. There is a white piece of plastic (internal of the shaft) that allows the little 'tab' of the motor drive arm to fit. Note that this slot opening is located in line with the plastic tensioner/retainer piece of the linkage that holds the stop arm in place. Any suggestions on how to get the motor shaft and the linkage to line up?
I am also very concerned that the linkage internal slot has been sheared off. If this has happened, what is my recourse?
The next thing I will do is try to find a dental mirror or the like to see if I can see into the linkage shaft.
