"DTE" on SID

Just returned from a trip along the OH Tpk to Pittsburgh on which I decided to find out how accurate the DTE figure was. When we stopped, it read 29 miles and the tank took 17.064 to fill, although I didn't really try to top it off more than adding a few blurps after the autostop kicked in. I don't have the manual right in front of me, but isn't the tank's capacity 18 (US) gallons? Anyway, it seems to me that the DTE figures that are generated are pretty close to accurate. When I did a manual calculation on the MPG for that particular tankful, though, it was 27.5 vs the SID number of 28.5. Just fyi, on the leg of the trip from mid-Ohio to exit 28 on the PA Tpk, it told me we were getting 30.1 mpg. Coming back to MI against a fairly stiff wind, we got 26.1. Anyway, I had never really tested the veracity of the DTE estimate and wanted to share its result. DKH
