Some gas stations and auto parts stores accept used engine oil. I take mine to the local recycling center, along with used coolant.
The drain plug washer is a Saab specific part, cost is around 60 cents each if you buy a bag of 5 or 10. I flip my washers over to get twice the use from each one. There will be a slight ridge formed on the bolt side of the washer after use. Someone posted a while ago that they found identical copper washers in the Plumbing Dept of big-box home improvement stores.
I use Mobil 1 oil in 5W/40 weight even though it is labeled Truck and SUV oil. I just swallow hard, close my eyes, and take it to the check out counter. For oil filters I am currently using A/C PFL400A over-sized filters. These are designed for the Turbo version of Chrysler's PT Cruiser but are a perfect fit on the Saab engine and twice as large (length) as the Saab filters. I got seven of them for only $1 (for the whole lot) on e-Bay last year, shipping at $4.50 was more than the filters!
