Went yesterday to explore trading in my leased 02 Linear wagon for a new 06 SportCombi. After reading all the input here, I was prepared to drive one and walk away, then explore other options this spring when lease is up. My first impression after walking on the lot was WOW, it REALLY DOES look better in person! The overall look is aggressive yet elegant. The new wheels are really nice, and the removal of all the black trim really helps the flow of car from the side. Inside, the re-design is remarkable. New dash material is like the 9-3ss (which we also have) and much less glaring than the "pleather" in my 02. Fit and finish was superb, the new controls are intuitive and well-machined. The new SID in green rather than amber is much easier to see in direct sunlight and the font is crisper with higher resolution. The smoked chrome trim is the least favorite feature; but definitely not obtrusive. Sat/drove in both the ventilated and sport leather seats. The ventilated were very comfortable, but the foam in two-tone sport leather was firmer and offered more support than the vent seats. I really like the two-tone with contrasting stitching; the entire interior taken as a whole is a major upgrade and very elegant in my opinion. I was expecting a harsh ride w/sport suspension, but was very pleasantly surprised. 200% improvement over my 02 Linear. Stuck like glue through high speed twists and turns and nicely dampened over rough roads. Something I hadn't seen mentioned here, the storage space under floor board in back now contains a partitioned heavy plastic storage tray; nice feature. I was also told that the range on the remote has been improved significantly.

Bottom line: I take delivery of a new steel grey w/charcoal SportCombi, auto, roof rails later this week.
