I just fixed mine this weekend. I was able to pop the plastic end off the trunk lid by grabbing the top of the piece with my right hand and rotating clockwise. it didn't require much, but it did make a popping sound and thought i had broken it. I've popped it off a few times during this process and it appears to be find. My wires where broken right where the rubber slips on to that plastic piece. I ran new wire from the harness clip up to the lib and stashed the excess wire in the trunk lid.

My trunk release works now, as does my inside trunk light. A fuse replacement fixed the reverse lights, but i don't have my park assist working, not sure what the cause of this is.
