I also noted that distressing tendency in my '99 SE shortly after purchase.
As in your case the dealer replaced the torque rods and the transmission mount. If all mounts are within specefication you might take matters into hand regarding the torque rods, as their "open" design allows the torque reaction of the motor to transmit into the cabin during rev. and dr. gear selection. I removed both torque rods and replaced the cushioning element with a denser grade of rubber. This involves essentially destroying the original torque rods because you must separate the mounting point, which accepts the screw, from the surrounding rubber. Having removed the torque rods you must trace the diameter of their interior surface on the denser piece of rubber thereby forming a template. Place the mounting point in the center of this template and trace its circumference as carefully as possible. To facilitate this procedure you will have removed as much rubber surrounding the mount as possible. Continually score the defining lines of the template embossed on the rubber using a box-cutter (lubricating the blade with soapy water will greatly facilitate this process). Repeat with the template for the center mounting bolt. When cutting is complete push the mount through the center of the new element and then replace within the torque rod "holder". Lastly, remount the torque rod to the frame and transmission of the car. The cutting can be rather tedious depending upon the density of the material chosen as the mount; denser material will permit less torque reaction during gear selection but will be slightly more "vibratory" during idle, a property you might not find too objectionable. The removal of the driver's side wheel is required to access the torque rods. This procedure is well within the purview of the amateur (I should know). The rubber can be purchased from a vendor of indutrial rubber/foam products. A comprehensive variety of rubber is available from: URETHNE PRODUTS CO. INC in New York. Tel. #: 718-343-3400. I have another vendor in mind that I will cite in a subsequent post. Good lock.
