I use Parker Stat-O-Seal Posted by Joe [Email] (#444) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Joe) on Thu, 26 Jan 2006 11:03:37 In Reply to: Re: 9-5 Oil Drain Plug Gasket, JG, Wed, 25 Jan 2006 16:49:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I got a more substantial drain bolt from National Auto. It is a generic replacement for that thread size. I sealed it with a Parker Stat-O-Seal. This is a metal washer with a vulcanised rubber bit on the inside. You can tighten the bolt all you want and the rubber is protetected by the washer. I got them from MSC.

I think I bought the 7775 series at the right diameter for the thread. I bought a bag of 5 of these 2-3 years ago and I used one. It has worked well. Never had a leak.
The metal-rubber design eliminates the possibility of a broken plastic washer.
