To me the same price is a reflection of four things 1)Saab couldn’t sell enough volume at a higher price 2)the incentives were getting out of hand 3)initial design costs must have been paid for by now 4)quality of something must be lower.
I support number 4 with an example. Many years ago I had a great LLBean back pack. After about 12 years I decided it was time for a new one as the old one was getting worn out. The new one cost less than the old one even though time had gone by. The new one had all the new and improved features. The new one looked like crap in 6 months and was totally worn out in about 3 years. Will we see the newer Saabs on the road as long as the older ones? You get what you pay for. Or perhaps in Saab’s defense, Saabs were just way overpriced to begin with, possibly due to not as cost cutting a design as the more GM influenced current generation. Cost cutting is fine if you know where to cut it, but given the way most GM vehicles hold up in the long run, one has to wonder.
Lep354, what is the halogen headlight thing you mention? This is the second reference to this I have seen on the BB. Your 02 had either halogens or xenons. How is the 06 different?
