Throttle Body problems

Driving on the interstate today and cel came on. Running fine so I wasn't too worried. Luckily I was close to my indy so I pulled in to his shop. He hooked up his tech II and code had to do with the throttle body (don't remember the exact number or verbiage). He reset the code and said if the cel comes back on bring it back in and he would clean the TB before replacing as that can take care of the problem sometimes. Drove the car home with no problems. After a couple idle hours I head back out - right away car seems to crank longer to start. CEL comes back on (BTW no limp home mode either time). Other things I noticed - 1. slightly sticky feel to the accelerator on the first 1/4 way down. 2. Sport mode has no effect on performance - ussually sport mode will send the boost into the red and only now is getting into the yellow.
Are these all signs of a failing TB? Should I even waste my time on a cleaning? (Granted, indy hasn't heard about the problems the second time the CEL came on)
