The timing belt part of it is covered. What's going to be on your dime are the (recommended here) replacement parts that are accessible when the timing belt is on the floor - tensioner, pulley, water pump(?), along with the rest of the "major service" (most of which, btw, I would have done now, not later, because you can negotiate a more favorable labor rate and parts cost as part of the purchase.)
I don't know what you mean about the 1-2 shift being "fast" - you mean early, like at low speed? Yeah, they do that, especially if you neglect to push the "swift" button the shift lever. Do you mean a harsh engagement? That would be a bad sign ... they *don't* do that.
Seating comfort? Well, that's up to the individual. Try the Aero seats, maybe you can scrounge a set at a junkyard that's more to your liking, and try adusting the height, tilt, and reach. I find the Saab seats - all the Saab seats, from the 99 up through the latest 9-3SS, to be very comfortable, but you may disagree. For example, the German cars I've driven lately (VW New Beetle CV, BMW 3-series, Mini) have made my right leg hurt due to the relationship between the clutch and the accelerator. When I'm close enough to the clutch pedal, I get no support for that leg. Yet these cars are renownded for their "ultimate driving" experience.
