Had a 2002 Aero wagon with 225/45 17 tires. The manual said "no chains". I had the dealer install Z cables to check for clearance tollerances. Everythging checked out in a static unloaded environment, with the steering wheel fully turned in both directions.
BUT, fortunately I never had to use them. So will they work in a dynamic environment under different speed and load conditions? Perhaps. The cables are smaller, and fit tighter than chains. Unfortunately, they are also more expensive.
