Well, proven oil changes at 10K intervals is not enough when sludge is present.
Saab requires proof of oil changes every 5K miles with a leeway upwards of 2K miles when dealing with a sludge engine.
So the car needs to have seen an oil change every 7K miles to qualify of the engine warranty.
This is due to the fine print in owners manual that oil should be changed every 5K miles under severe driving conditions.
Saab says that oil sludge is due to severe driving conditions.
