The current listing from EZ-Pass does NOT list the 9-5 as requiring an external transceiver. I have a windshield-mounted tag and it works fine. For best results, it needs to be mounted to the passenger side of centerline, so that it is not shielded by the black area on the glass behind the mirror and does not further obstruct the driver's field of view. (That is, put it on part of the glass that you can't see because the mirror's in the way.)
My Valentine One works great in the Saab. I haven't gotten around to hard-wiring it yet, but it's easy to get a neat installation. Get yourself a good length of phone cord, and to make your life easy, a modular jack crimper. Attach the V1 to the windshield with the suction cups near the mirror, high. Tuck the phone cord into the gap between the headliner and the glass. Then run it down the A-pillar, there's enough gap between the glass and the plastic. Pull off the not-a-fuse-cover on the side of the dash on the passenger side, route the wire through there down the side of the car.
Carefully pry up the plastic piece on the sill that says "SAAB" and you'll find a wire channel thoughtfully provided. Run the wire along this sill until you get to the seam in the carpet under the passenger seat. Run the wire underneath the seat rail and under the carpet seam over toward the center console. Cut off the wire and crimp on a connector with just enough length to reach the V1 ligher socket adaptor when it's plugged into the rear lighter socket.
Voila! Hardwired look with no permanent modifications. Great for lease cars.
