I have 163,000 miles on my 2000 sedan, so I wouldn't shy away from the deal based on accumulated miles. I am not aware of any odometer issues with the 9-5, it is possible the 69,000 is a typo and the real mileage last April was 89,000 miles. I do recommend determining how the 39,000 miles got placed on the car, and proof of routine service during that time.
Was it owned by a salesperson who put the miles on doing expressway driving, or possibly someone who has an even longer daily commute to work that I have? Did the car receive diligent maintenance to keep it active as a dependable daily driver during this time frame?
Or was it owned by a courier company where the driver(s) never cared what they did to the car, and the owner didn't care about performing any maintenance to the car. The "drive it till it drops" mentality.
Clearly there was a big change in use habits before and after April of 2005. A person who puts 40,000 miles per year on a car might be able to minimize their vehicle operating/depreciation costs by purchasing vehicles with 60,000 to 70,000 miles and selling them near the 100,000 mile point.
