ok, the only real suggestion i have. There was a bulletin from saab a few years back to help with a condition of pushing too much heat to the rear vent when the passenger side vents were shut. You need to remove the glove box and drill a 27mm hole in the duct work to help eleviate pressure. I usually just drill four 1/2" holes and it seems to work just fine. There is a large dust that runs to the far passenger side vent and also a duct for the center vent. Just drill a few holes in each and that should help the situation. I guess my original thought would be why do you close off the passengers vents when you could just adjust the temperature on that side to keep that person comfortable?
