pack. Since it only happens when cold, the vent hole in the clutch pack housing may be partially obstructed, or the oil passage for the fluid to engage the clutch may be partially obstructed, or as you said - it might be someting with the solenoid valve feeding the Low-Reverse clutch.
Unfortunately, I don't believe any of this can be verified/repaired wihtout removing the transmission. Some problems are beyond the scope of us D-I-Y's and require a professional tech to diagnose and repair.
