04 ARC oilc change questions?

Hello, everybody:

My 04 Arc which was bought in August 2004 have had only one oil change so far which was the 15K milestone oil change done at local SAAB dealership in August 2005. I have not been driving it very much recently. The odometer is at 17.5K miles now.

I started to be concerned whether I need to change the oil more frequent other than changing it each 15K miles according to SAAB.
It is only 2500 miles since last oil change but it has been 9 months since last August. Does anybody know what type of synthetic oil does SAAB dealer use? Can it hold to one year period or I should have it changed now?

If I need to change it now, what type of syethetic oil you guys will recommend? And what type of frequency should I follow?
