a year and a half ago our throttle body put our 2000 lpt into limp home mode, then starting running normally again during that long limp home.
about a mile after going into limp home mode the 2nd time, the car completely shut down in the middle of a 4-mile long interstate bridge and wouldn't even turn over--was completely shut off. probably dumb to attempt the long drive home, but we were supposedly 120 miles from the nearest saab mechanic, and I guess I didn't think it thru too well.
the car did give some surging that my wife witnessed before all this happened (and now she knows what causes that), but no codes either before or after the limping home and shutdown.
after getting a rental and a tow, the nearest dealer found no problems and wouldn't even consider that the tb could be the issue, with no codes to pull. So I drove it the remaining 350 miles home and our indy said he was 100% sure it was the tb and replaced it. No problems whatsoever since.
