Just wanted to post how easy it is to change the Automatic transmission fluid. Used Toyota Type-IV made for Aisin Automatics ($4.65 a quart). I put a floor jack under the driver's side sub-frame and lifted the car a couple of inches to allow more room for me and the drain pan. The drain bolt on the transmission goes in sideways, head of drain-plug faces the passenger wheel. I had both a 24MM and a 15/16" combination wrench. The 15/16" seemed to fit a bit tighter so that's what I used. Drained fluid into a pan and went inside for coffee. Came out later and cleaned the junk off the magnetic drain plug and screwed it back in. Took just short of 4 quarts to fill it (about a 45% fluid change). Drove it around and then rechecked level and topped off. It would be silly to have the Dealer do this for the big bucks they want. It will take about 3 changes to get most of the fluid new as the torque converter has no drain or access. Amazingly, just getting about half the fluid as new, the transmission shifts much tighter. Can't wait to buy another 8 quarts to finish the job.
