And the answer is....(after 259,000 miles)... Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: What year did they get the engine Bugs worked out?, WFVIGGEN, Tue, 21 Mar 2006 10:06:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 9-5 Aero is a 2000. I'm still waiting for something exciting to happen.
1) I dropped the pan at 250,000 miles....NO SLUDGE
2) I did replace the first DIC at 100,000. Th second one had 158,000 on it. Saab replaced it under their recent recall.
3) The PCV has never been touched.
4) The head bolt have never been touched. There are no symptoms that would justify fixing something that isn't broken.
5) Problem: The cabin ventiliation fan motor did go at 258,000 miles. I'm thinking of writing Saab a complaint letter; I was expecting at least 500,000 miles. Hopefully, I'll get some financial relief; I replaced it myself at a cost of $350.00 (OEM part).
CONCLUSION: People bring problems to this BB, not happily ever after stories. This human propensity creates the impression that Saab's have a lot of problems; they don't. The 98% who are enjoying a trouble-free Saab experience are rather quiet.
If you buy a Saab, or almost any year-2000 or newer car for that matter, you'll likely enjoy a trouble-free experience...if you follow a good pogram of preventive maintenance.
