02-03 Arcs are sweet.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 2003 V6, Joe ![]() |
Many prefer the smoothness, feel and low end punch of the V6, although at the expense of slightly, 10% or so, worse fuel economy. The V6s in the 9-5 line have proven to be the equal or better than the 2.3 fours in reliability. For example the V6s entirely dodged the sludge issue. I've heard that overall warranty claims of V6s are lower than for the fours. The V6s do require a timing belt replacement at 60k, but Saab covers that even though the car is out of warranty.
The 2002-2003 Arc is a nice package of equipment on the 9-5. The Arcs have the premium package as well as the vented seats as standard equipment. You can find 02-03 Arcs with the touring package too which includes the xenon headlights, rain sensing wipers and park assist.
Many consider the 2003 to be the Saab with the most content. Or said another way, 2004s were decontented slightly losing the radio weatherband, rear door puddle lights, umbrella holders in the bottom of the B pillars and other piddly stuff.
