A Saab dealer can only CPO a car in conjunction with a sale. That is a Saab dealer has to sell the car for it to be CPO. The lone loophole is when a person who has leased their car, buys it from the lease company at the end. Then the dealer is selling the car, albeit to the owner, and it can be CPO's.

Lotsa' dealers, including me will sell you an extended warranty. Saab just came out with a Saab branded Universal Warranty Company extended warranty product. I've always been a fan of the General Motors Protection Plan. As unstable as GM is lately, even an unstable GM is far more stable than most extended warranty companies. GM also offers a Major Guard warranty, and exclusionary or bumper to bumper style of warranty like the original new car warranty, in other words with the least amount of loopholes vs other warranty companies.

The other advantage to a warranty you buy vs the CPO warranty is that the CPO warranty has only one fixed term, 2 years and 50,000 miles above and beyond the factory warranty with a zero deductible whereas a warranty you purchase can be lots of different terms and deductibles, 36/50,000 or 48/48,000 or lotsa' differing terms to fit your needs.

The advantages of the CPO warranty are the coverage as it's an actual extension of the factory exclusionary/bumper to bumper warranty and it's relatively cheap in comparison to the price of aftermarket warranties.

Click on my name up where it says Posted by Mike Lynch, give me some info and I'll quote you the GMPP and the Saab Universal warranties.
