A similar issue, but a worse problem. My '99 9.5 (89K, bought used 6 months ago): driver's side headlight burned out, I replaced the lamp, checked that it lit up, pulled the key, went into the house, came back later to find the car dead. Jumped it off my wife's 9000, same battery failure later, jumped it again, at which point I noticed that the headlights stayed on. Pulled fuse #35, they stayed on. Then pulled maxifuses one by one, they stayed on. Down-the-street mechanic (not a Saab guy) advised pull the negative pole on the battery when I got out of the car to keep lights from running it down, then get on TSN. Instead I pulled the wire for each headlight (easier: no tools), at which point I noticed that twist-off plastic cover on passenger headlight connection was missing. I can't see that causing the problem, but any counsel welcome!
