Pj,
Yes, a D1S type bulb will fit regardless of the manufacturer.
Osram bulbs are more white and contain less blue, Philips burn a bit bluer at the "edges". This is not due to different kelvin ratings but rather the composition of the salts in the bulb. I strong recommend browsing through the attached link; thereafter consider yourself informed..
Also most people don't realize that the blueish BMW appearance in the bulbs is a product of the PROJECTOR used and not the bulb. All OEM bulbs are 4100-4300; however DOT spec projectors contain ribs are not clear like their E-code E spec euro counterparts. The results is a more dispersed beam with a softer cutoff in the states as opposed to the sharp E-code cutoff and blueish bands in Euro. :)
I was driving next to an Audi A8 the other day and his Xenon lights were 10X as bright; monstrous white as day wall of light as far as I could see.
I wonder who makes the projectors for Audi; maybe my bulbs are getting old.....hey you're not going to bid up the price of those D1S bulbs ending today are you? :)
