Louis stated
"SAab paid for my update in 2004 when my DI failed and I had to replace it at my own cost( now being reimbursed). I find it hard to imagine that they would go to the trouble of bringing in an affected car in the class to the shop, putting on a new DI cassette, and sending it along without updating the software, since the newer software also helps the T-7 throw a code when it senses impending failure of the DI. If they really are doing that, they are being penny wise and pound foolish."
Louis,
Imagine harder :)
Yes, we use to update the software per a TSB on DI problems. Your failure in 2004 would have been in that time frame and in fact that was what I was doing up till the recall came out. The recall DOES NOT include any software updates, diagnosis, plugs, NADA. We simply pull the DI, check the serial number and replace it if AND ONLY IF the serial number is between certain ranges.
Good luck,
Steve C
