reduced acceleration - obvious cause?

Hi all,
I've had my 2000 9-5 Aero for about a month now, and it's been great so far. But I've noticed that in the past couple weeks, accleration has been less brisk than it was previously. Both off-the-line and passing-speed acceleration seems to be reduced - or, more accurately, delayed. I've owned turbo cars before, so I'm familiar with the need to build boost before expecting the car to take off. The turbo gauge moves squarely into the red during hard acceleration, so I don't think the turbo itself is the issue. But it seems that the initial thrust-back-in-your-seat feel that I had at first is gone; the car still accelerates quickly, just not *as* quickly - and it's quite noticeable when you're trying to merge onto a highway, for example.
Could it be the adaptive program in the transmission? As I said, I've owned the car for about a month. It was driven previously by a woman who I don't think realized what she had under the hood. I drive about 90% of the time with the "Sport" mode engaged; I think she may have done 90% of her driving without it. Has the engine/trans management program perhaps moved the shift points because of this?
I realize this is pretty subjective, but I'm hoping that some other owners of used Aeros may have had similar experiences.
Thanks!
Dave
