It have been a couple of voices here and there on the boards where they feel they have gotten better power after swapping in a new IDM (even the red ones for the NG900/9000).
Maybe we should look at the IDM as a wear and tear item just like the ignition distributor cap, rotor and wires in the old cars and replace it like, every 100K miles or so.
Your 2003 might or might not have the latest software from factory (early 2003 was shipped before the SW came around) and it has the TK 3.6 version of the IDM which Saab says ok even though the recall cars most likely will receive the newest TK 3.7 version of the IDM.
I have absolutly no clue if the TK 3.7 version is a better one or if Saab have changed the part number and version number to be able to lower the price on them as they have done, but I make sure that I get the latest one when ordering from my supplier since it is older ones circulating too.
I would do as Dean suggest to swap the IDMs and drive the car under same condition but make sure that tire pressure and gasoline is the same.
