99 SE- 3/99 to 4/06 Honest Assessment $14,683 Later Posted by 88SPGClone [Email] (#1317) [Profile/Gallery] (more from 88SPGClone) on Tue, 11 Apr 2006 06:52:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
121,758 miles / .12 a mile. I've been towed 5 times. FYI, my 88 900T has never been towed (220k)...not once. Let me be clear it's still a wallet toss as well.
And the 99 9-5 SE LBT 4 cyl breaks down something like this:
33 visits to the service center (not including ordinary oil changes):
1999 2 $204.21
2000 3 $391.32
2001 5 $316.26
2002 6 $2,230.14
2003 4 $2,319.85 -- warranty ended (5/03)
2004 6 $3,864.00
2005 5 $3,723.65
2006 2 $1,634.13
The cost isn't entirely accurate. I ____ bitterly to SAAB and they paid for "the DIC" / catalytic converter (83,283) as well as a credit of $1,000 towards the transmission repair.
Major repairs:
Multiple SID replacements (latest holding up, hurray for the supplier)
2 Throttle bodies – let’s put in a dash of modular in that design, huh?
Dashboard completely yanked out for a $30 valve at my expense - nice!
Tons of fog / head lights – car’s way of saying "don't get too confident"
Manual Transmission (2nd gear) / rear seal
- after 78,593 & the all that warranty love , I should be grateful
(dead) for all that Saab love and play the “Out of Warranty Blues”
"the DIC" (appropriate acronym) / catalytic converter
- can you say “hit me 2 times?”
- lets put APC/circuitry, wires, coil, distributor over a lava hot motor
- just wait for "software" designers come up with an enhancement, yippie
- Saab/GM changed the part number to "the Gimp" which has been cross
referenced many times to "oh geez, that's got to hurt")
- brilliant design...for the 2000-2006 owners that is!
Water pump (whatever, just a few shillings for the king)
2nd rear seal (or ceremonial wallet toss, again)
- got to love the smell of burnt oil in the morning
- that's 5w30, 5w40 or is it 0w40 synthetic? who the ____ knows?
- let be honest, "semi" synthetic didn't smell near as good as full syn
Front wheel bearings (somewhat expected, few more shillings for the king)
Security box - $6.84 battery Mouser Electronics PN 658-CR1632 to be exact
- costs $400 at Saab?...huh
- next time, let's keep the battery away from solder and review our
Fuel pump -- at $855 and a tow, I feel violated by mechanic
- my kids never made the backseat feel this dirty
And not to mention the Crankshaft Position Sensor and "the DIC" will be coming to my car soon.
I love a mystery…
