It's not the door, it's the glovebox light/light switch

I had the same problem on my 2000 - squeaked with the glovebox door closed, stopped when the door is open. It started last winter when it was cold. Initially it would stop once the car warmed up. However, as time went by it lasted longer and longer until it was never stopping.

After tightening all the screws to the glovebox door and the strikers I looked at the light switch. If I took the light switch out (it just pops out with a flat head screwdriver from the front) the squeak would stop. I tried putting door lubricant on the front of the tab that the left door arm hits to actuate the light and filling the switch assy with white lithium grease, but that only worked for about five minutes.

The final solution was to stick a small piece of self adhesive felt to the front of the switch tab (on the very front of the switch/light assembly). I used a piece of a felt floor protector (used to protect hardwood floors from furniture) cut to the height of the tab. You have to be careful about height or it will not fit back into place. Viola - problem solved.
