I have been driving turbocharger Saab for 17 years. I use only Mobil 1 oil and the oil always gets dark, nearly black, very quickly. This is normal for the turbo Saab engine. My Alfa Spider (2.o liter 4 cylinder) oil does not get dark nearly as quickly.
As far as causing any problems, my 1984 Saab 900T (bought new) went 242,000 miles with out every opening the engine (except removing the valve cover for valve adjustments). This was on Mobil 1 10W-30 with 5,000 mile oil and filter changes. Yes the oil got dark, put the results say that the color did not indicate any degradation of the oil's ability to lubricate the engine. At 240,000 miles when I last adjusted the valves, the inside of the valve cover had a very slight light brown staining (not a varish as it would not even scrub off with parts cleaner and a scotchbrite pad) of the aluminum.
So don't worry, dark oil is just a Saab thing.
