Is it wind noise or road noise?
I believe I'm the first to play around with noise dampening on a 9-5.
Someone has an extensive writeup for a NG900.
I will do same and post for the board when I'm done; could be a worthwhile Sunday project. Below is a running total of the cost to date for anyone that cares. I plan on starting next weekend...
-------------------------------------------------------------
$ 51- 12 sq feet - Dynamat Tac Mat acoustic decoupling mat
......................to block road noise in front doors, applied on top of the v-max butyl dampeners
$120- 14 sq. feet - Cascade Audio V-Max butyl/alum dampening sheets
......................to dampen structual borne vibrations from front door speakers, Basslink in trunk and real wheel wells. I will line trunk and rear wells as well as hatch and use rest for front doors.
$28- 2 sq. feet - Two Cascade Audio Deflex pads (almost liquid polymer)
......................to cancel soundwaves firing from door speaker magnets against parallel metal sheet causing distortion. This does not really combat road noise but I hear the improvements in mid-bass clarity are worthwhile and I don't feel like replacing the door speakers after weighing the pros and cons of a Boston acoustics coaxial in there.
cheers,
MM
