We often recommend that inexpensive (6ES or 7ES)plug. The 7ES plug will run a bit darker, but in modified ECUs that plug can help the DIC develop better power than the hotter 6ES. That is because at higher power levels, the hotter electrodes have lower spark breakdown voltages and "plasma conductance". The T7 system can then try to avoid false indications of knock prone conditions. Running the 7ES at larger gaps, .039-.040 instead of smaller gaps for longer in-gap service life (between regappings) can also improve power. I think that the Aero is pushing things hard enough that these effects come into play. It something that some claim to feel from a power and responsiveness point of view.
A 7ES can run too dark in a lot of daily drivers with short trips and 6ES is the best plug for most folks.
Some have stated that larger gaps increase voltage stresses on the DI and that this is a cause of DI failures. This is completely unsubstantiated. When one gets on boost, the denser charge air increases the spark gap breakdown voltage greatly and that effect is way more than changes of spark gaps. And that would stress the secondary windings of the coils only. Most T7 DI failures are electronic and not issues with coil failure.
This increase in spark gap breakdown voltage when on boost is why the ignition systems on turbocharged engines are stronger or exotic compared to normally aspirated engines.
