Here's the story.

About two weeks ago, I had my garage change the automatic transmission fluid in my 02 Arc. I asked them for a flush, and brought along 8 quarts of Toyota T-IV fluid.

I watched everything they did. They drained the fluid, and then they put in a bit of regular ATF as part of the flushing process. This didn't bother me, because it appeared that every drop of regular ATF that went in came out of the drain plug...further, after they did that, they put an air compressor hose into the fill area and blew out all the oil they could (and they did this pretty thoroughly in my opinion.)

After that, they put in 5 quarts of my Toyota T-IV. The transmission dipstick read at the cherry spot. (I looked and looked on this board, but I finally answered the question--there seems to be *no* way of flushing out the entire contents of the transmission and differential.) I checked the fluid level two days afterwards, and it still was at the cherry spot. I haven't checked it since then.

I'm out of town at a conference, but my partner in crime says that she's observing weird behavior. At low speeds (under 45mph) she's observing an occasional situation at which she presses on the accelerator to accelerate, and the tachometer goes straight up, but the car doesn't accelerate appreciably. (Though she isn't super knowledgeable about cars, I have taught her in the past how to drive a manual, and she likened the situation to the experience of stomping on the gas while holding the clutch down in a manual.)

Any thoughts by the experts on the board?
