I am having the ignition problem - the key turns with no resistance, no spring-back from start and *no* engine crank. After gloating about getting the battery replaced under warranty at 49988 miles, the car has been a complete lemon. I no longer take it to the dealer since he tried to charge me $50 for power steering fluid. The things that have gone wrong so far:
1. Header gasket fails and loss of coolant (300 miles from home
2. Power steering goes (I was on the NYS thruway 15 miles of straight
road (Western NY) and I had to avoid a truck and suddenly found no
steering - barely avoided a major accident.
3. Serpentine belt breaks - at about the same time. (250 miles from home)
After getting PS fixed and belt replaced - the hose to the PS reservoir gets a leak. All service technicians left for the day, but the salesman comes out and fixes it!! Then he jumps my parent's car, as their battery fails - got a letter yesterday that they are no longer a SAAB dealer (Feder of Clark's Summit, PA - I will miss them).
4. Turbo fails - my friend drives his car ahead of mine - Copious quantities of opaque smoke ala VG Spy-Hunter - friend was in tears (laughing) describing all the unfortunate unsuspecting drivers behind me.
5. DI module fails - barely get the car there.
6. At 100,010 miles - this ignition problem.
I won't get another SAAB (or Volvo) again. I may have forgotten some repairs.
