Time For Service message is driven strictly by accumulated miles. The message merely means it is time for your oil to be changed and the owner's manual has instruction on how to clear the message.
An OBD-II reader will work with your Saab andwill tell you what is causing the Check Engine Light to illuminate. It doesn't sound like this is your situation.
The Time For Service may also be activated by an algorithm computing remaining oil life based upon number of engine starts since last oil change, length of drives, engine temperatures reached during drives, maximum speed, etc. This algorithm is used with the 9-3 engines, I don't know if it is now used with the 9-5 engines too.
