I just installed a new Saab OE rear muffler on my 1999 SE. It had no holes at all in the shell. On the other hand, the origninal one had lost big chunks of the outer shell over a one year period before finally rusting through the inner shell and actually leaking.
A new one at a local Canadian dealer was $799 CAN!! A new one from site-sponsor eEuroparts is about $350 US with free shipping.
I had the great good fortune of winning one from exhaustliquidators on eBay for a mere $68 plus $40 shipping! I owe this good fortune to fellow 9-5 BB'er Albanysaab who pointed out the auction on this BB.
If the hole is just in the outer shell, you too may go a full year before an actual leak occurs.
