I think its because Saab is one of the few cars that can actually take advantage of fuels with higher octane. So since it can adapt, you notice it, whereas in most cars, they run to the lowest common denomiator, so are not sensitive to fuel variations.
Also certainly in the summer when the AC compressor is on, and the 10% ethanol is being run, the power is a bit less, and is magnified by the % used to spool up the turbo, so it becomes more noticeable as turbo lag. But my car still has the same feel once the turbo is spooled up as always.
