I had this happen to me early this spring, at probably ~115k miles. Also a 2000 Aero.
The local dealer verified it was the ABS controller, and gave me massive sticker shock when I saw how much a new part would cost.
I went to a local Saab/Volvo independent shop and they reached the same conclusion. They tried to tell me that rebuilds were bad news, and that everyone they know who tried it had several go-arounds with the rebuilder and eventually bought a new part. I mentioned the place I found on Ebay, and they were like 'oh, yeah, I think that is even the same company.' Anyway, I couldn't ignore the HUGE cost savings, and so went ahead with the rebuild. Had I looked at how straightforward the DIY pictures were on here, I might have attempted it myself..but instead had the same independent shop take it out, mail it to Auto & Truck Electronics (after I bought it on Ebay, they faxed a prepaid UPS label to the shop), and reinstall it when it came back rebuilt. Worked like a charm.
