As far as I know, the TWICE unit (anti-theft computer) can be programmed to accept a maximum of 4 keys during its life. To program the computer to accept an additional key you MUST have one of the exisitng keys in your possession as it is used in the programming sequence. The computer has no way of knowing if the additional key is a "New from Sweden" key or a used e-Bay key. These steps will allow your car's TWICE unit to accept the electronic anti-theft signal from the e-Bay key.

The e-Bay key must also have a machined slot to match your existing lock cylinders. I understand that this part can be bought separately from the entire key. I was told by my Dealer last night that these key shafts have to be cut in Sweden because no US Dealers own the $15,000 machine to cut the slots! The cost of a new shaft from Sweden (machined to match my new 9-3SC) was quoted at $100.

Are we both being hosed with this last bit of information? I don't know, and asked this question today on the 9-3SS board. A $100 machined key shaft snapped into your all-in-one fob may still be cheaper than ordering a complete key and fob combination from the Dealer.
