Having had the big scalpel to the back, and needing a workhorse car for a living 55K/y, the seat is nearly everything , then good brakes etc. I did find some dealers seemed to really understand this point, from potential customers with the same need.
Reviews in motormags should give this more prominence in new car reviews, the aging demographic demands this, yet only the luxury cars seem interested, Cadillac is one, M Benz BMW, Acura. The larger lexus i.e. gs did not seem a comfy fit,ES was a little better. The secret is the lower spine, and Caddy has a vertical and fore and aft adjustable lumbar support..
Sadly the caddy(only one in my town) sales guy and his manager were patronising at theonset ,even rude as I was dressed casuallyin weekend stuff and probably not showing in this sense I can in fact comfortably afford any of their autos.
On arriving I really was ready to sign for a STS4 after riding a friend,s from out of town, but what did these represent indirectly for after in terms of quality of service and approachability with their snootiness. They simply lost me The local SAAB are nice and folksy and will get my nod and money again, if as you say the seat is good ,when very last of 2006 arrives endJune. My 4 boxy Volvos were like a dreamy dentists sofa, firm and no pain ever, but then my 5th andlast, a 98, V70 was disaster city reliability wise, so melt in mouth wonder of its chair relief on my back had to be secondary. Only other parameter was an emotional one i.e. GM or Ford preferred as I as a Canadian want to support US.
