Most of the time this is the seal in the turbocharger gone bad. The seal separates the intake side from the exhaust side and when the seal goes oil leaks into the intake side. Because it does this so slowly it doesn't make a noticable amount of smoke all the time, but after sitting for a while, the oil pools up and then when the car starts it gets sucked into the engine and it burnt. If you actually take the intake off you can see lots of oil in there.
My V6 has this problem right now. The machanic at the dealer said it's about $1400 for the 4 cylinder and $2000 for the V6. He also said it's nothing urgent. If the car is still running fine then the turbo is still working, just keep an eye on the oil level. Once the turbo dies completely you will notice it; no power, and blue/gray smoke following you all the time.
Another less common reason for blue smoke is the PCV valve. Try doing a search for this problem in the BB.
Sorry it was long, but I have the same problem so I have done lots of research. This is all I know and I hope it helps you.
